Working for Leeds Mind

Leeds Mind is one of the longest established voluntary sector providers of mental health services in Leeds. We currently provide 10 services employing over 60 paid staff. We are confident we have a great deal to offer new and existing staff.

Pay and Conditions

We offer competative rates of pay which we review annually. In addition, staff are eligible to join the West Yorkshire Pension Fund where staff contributions are enhanced by contributions from Leeds Mind. Staff are also supported by generous annual leave , bank holiday and sick pay arrangements.

Training and Development

We recognise that our staff are our most valuable  resource and we place great emphasis on providing excellent training and development opportunities for them. We provide a mix of in-house training and funding for staff to access external courses. One of our core values is that "we recognise there are multiple causes of mental health problems and different interventions can be effective". In the light of this we actively support our staff to access a variety of training and to share different approaches to mental health interventions. Staff have regular formal line-management supervision and an annual appraisal where their training needs are discussed and planned for.

As a provider of 10 different projects, from Employment services to Housing, from Community Arts to Information, staff have excellent opportunities to experience work in different environments and can draw on colleagues' experience of supporting people in different services and at different stages of their recovery.

Induction

New members of staff joining a Leeds Mind project are taken through a tailored induction programme by their manager. Within their first 3 months, new staff also attend Induction Training at our Head Office.

Flexible Working Arrangements

Our priority will always be to the needs of the people using Leeds Mind services. We recognise, however, that staff have a life outside work and as far as possible strive to accommodate flexible working arrangements.

Staff Support

We recognise the stress that working with people experiencing emotional distress causes and have developed a robust structure of staff support systems which minimise the risk of staff "burn out" and maximise opportunities for personal and professional development. Another of our core Values is that "we recognise the central importance of human relationships". To this end we value the experience that individuals who have experienced mental ill health can bring to working for Leeds Mind.
