Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 will take place 12th – 18th May.

The annual event aims to raise awareness and promote open conversations around mental health. This year’s theme is ‘community’, as set by the Mental Health Foundation.

At Leeds Mind, we’re joining Mind, the national mental health charity, in saying that mental health is everything, everywhere, everyone. It’s part of all of us and affects everyone around us.

As a local Mind, we agree that mental health is everything, everywhere, and everyone. And in Leeds, that means the people and organisations that make up our communities.

So we’re taking the week to connect with them. Whether that’s people looking for support, businesses that advocate for mental wellbeing at work, or community groups and activities that offer people a way to be part of a community.

Alongside highlighting the work we’re doing at Leeds Mind, we’ll be speaking with some local Mind charity shops, and sharing some great resources and organisations for Leeds locals to get involved with, and attending a pop-up event at Kirkgate market.

Community is foundational to wellbeing. Community creates spaces for us to share time together, engage in hobbies with likeminded people, and helps to build safe places where we feel comfortable talking and sharing our experiences. With this in mind, for Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re lifting up the community in this great city.

Business Connections

Our second quarterly business networking event will be taking place on Thursday 15th May. Falling on Mental Health Awareness Week, the talks over the event will be in line with the ‘community’ theme, emphasising the importance of social connections and belonging for mental wellbeing, including in the workplace.

This event is free to attend, and offers businesses a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable insight into supporting wellbeing at work. It’s also the perfect setting to start conversations with other likeminded organisations in and around Leeds, cultivating business communities in Leeds.

Marketplace Event – Kirkgate Market

Forum Central and Touchstone are hosting a Marketplace Event at Kirkgate Market on May 16th 2025, from 11am to 3pm.

This event will shine a spotlight on smaller organisations supporting the mental health of marginalised and culturally diverse communities. Leeds Mind will be hosting a stall at the event alongside some other fantastic organisations supporting marginalised communities in Leeds. Our staff will be on hand to have a chat about the work we are doing.

Our online community

We’d love to see you in person at one of the events we’re hosting and attending, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty happening online. We will be sharing content across our social platforms to put our Leeds Mind community in the spotlight and show just how far across the community our services reach.

We’ll also be sharing lived-experience content from Leeds residents who have used our services, sharing their experience with mental health and how community are at the core of elevating wellbeing.

If you don’t already follow us, head over to our Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn to stay in the know about what we get up to over Mental Health Awareness Week and every week after!
