We are committed to ensuring that our colleagues, volunteers and service users feel a sense of belonging at Leeds Mind that gives them the confidence to share their unique perspectives and experience.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

We have been ranked in the Top 100 UK Most Inclusive Workplaces by the National Centre for Diversity in 2021 and 2022!

  • Formed the Leeds Mind Equality, Diversity and Inclusion group in April 2020
  • Created safe spaces within our offices such as quiet rooms (for prayer, meditation and breastfeeding etc.) and gender-neutral toilets
  • Introduced Equality Impact Assessments when creating and review policy and procedure to ensure impact on underrepresented groups is considered and mitigated against
  • Introduced new ‘Menopause’ and ‘Transitioning at Work’ policies
  • Raised awareness and improved knowledge amongst staff of a diverse range of dates and causes such as Ramadan, Disability Pride Month, Black History Month & World Autism Awareness Week
  • Encouraged the use of pronouns and #MyNameIs name pronunciation tool in email signatures and meetings
  • Ensured that all staff receive high quality training in Equality & Diversity and Unconscious Bias

There’s always more to be done…here’s what we’re working on next:

  • Develop an inclusion strategy
  • Continue to develop new ways to engage with service users, volunteers and applicants with diverse identities and backgrounds
  • Ensure that our training and development for colleagues and volunteers has a strong emphasis on inclusion
  • Develop a process to enable us to consider the impact on all of our users, colleagues and volunteers when making decisions, this will include holding all stakeholders to high standards and ensuring that they also champion inclusion
